Danger Seen and Unseen

Welcome once again to Prayer Closet Images where we display the images that are to be viewed while we think on the things of God. On today, we have for your viewing pleasure the image “Danger Unseen”. In the image we see two people seemingly crushing grain for making bread, and talking to one another. In the back ground the land appears to be making the image of danger in the form of what looks like a leopard. The land itself appears to be in the form of danger unseen. Although the land appears to be in the form of danger unseen, there appears to be a protection between the danger and the people that are in the process of crushing grain for food. That protection appears in the form of a river or a stream that shields the couple from this danger unseen. In the same way the Lord protects His people from danger seen and unseen.

What should our attitude about the Lord be? Simply put our attitude should be that we love the Lord. How should we love the Lord?

We love the Lord with all of our Heart

We love the Lord with all of Our heart, Our heart, as defined by scripture, consists of our inner feelings. Our heart is defined somewhat differently in scripture than as we define heart now. All of our heart means that we love the Lord with everything that we feel, and we feel that we are giving that love our all when we love the Lord our God.

We love the Lord with all of our Soul

We love the Lord with all of our soul. Our soul is also defined differently by Scripture. Our soul is the part of us that is definitely immortal. When we love the Lord with all of our soul then we love the lord with our inward being that is eternal. In the beginning the Lord God breathed into created man’s nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul.

We love the Lord with all of our Mind

We love the Lord with all of our mind. All of our mind is not only the physical mind that we are able to feel and touch and dissect, but also the things that we think about at all times. We are to allow the Lord to be in command of our thought process.

We love the Lord with all of our Strength

Strength is what we need to have to do things that we have to do, and the strength that we have is strength that we receive from the Lord. Our strength is our energy that we have been born with and that we take with us everywhere that we go. We should dedicate this our strength to the Lord our God.

We love our Neighbor as we love Ourselves

Having said all of that, I conclude by saying that our attitude concerning the Lord should be, that we love the Lord with all of our heart, and all of our soul, and all of our mind, and all of our strength, and that we should love our neighbor as we love ourselves.

In the parable of the good Samaritan Jesus defines our neighbor as one that has compassion on us. Jesus states that we should love our neighbor as we love ourselves. The teaching of how we are to love God is illustrated by the action of people that reacted to one in distress after having been beaten and robbed and left for dead on the side of the road. The one that had compassion and assisted the one that was left for dead becomes an example of how we are to react to all situations that require us to act in compassion. Passing by on the other side of the road after seeing the beaten man is used to show the way not to act.

Jesus allows us to know that the definition of our neighbor is the one that has compassion on us. The neighbor is defined as the one that assisted the one in distress. We should help one another as well.

Therefore, we should love those that have compassion on us as we love ourselves, although we should love all people as children of God, because all people were created by God, and we are all brothers and sisters in the Lord. It has been said that compassion is the catalyst for the miracle. It can be seen that compassion was present before the miracles of Jesus. In the same way we should expect the workings of compassion today to usher in miracles, just as having compassion preceded miracles in the days of Jesus.
